Still just a boring but happy trans woman/mother/wife.
Over 40 and way behind but sprinting to catch up.
She/Her.
Terminally online since 2000
Pinned
Alright so back in August-ish this place got to be too much for me to handle, it was seriously harming my mental health and I am glad I took the time off.

I did miss many people around here and some of the vibe that was still seeping through the badness but it wasn't worth it.
Cleaned house, kid in bed

Spent an hour long smoking sesh with spouse going over our days

Made the laziest "curry" with some tortillas

Starting rewatch of Voyager

Never let anyone tell you your little made-up comic and cartoon stories are too silly or out of pocket when real life exists.

the "if you believe the allegations against gaiman you're a terf!" argument was awful and stupid when his terrible nerd defenders first tried it out a year or two ago, I don't expect to go over any better now. I still hope anyone making that argument fucks off a cliff, of course.

I think it's important to know that an oral history of Tim Curry's greatest line delivery exists

here it is

(and yes, it was his first take, and yes, they kept it anyway because how could you not)

Kids loved it, we charged $1 and "somehow" every game they won.

Neighbor kid even jumped to help us run it for free (we paid him $20 anyway).

It was redneck as shit too

Hands down my favorite (and irritating) personal anecdote of delayed cracking is a two day period.

I dressed up as Joan Jett for Halloween in 2014 for work (won the contest!), because I've always loved her.

I spent over $100 buying clothes to make it work at Goodwill.

This is a bit of story I've been having trouble sharing in full here for whatever reason but I just really have been pleasently surprised with some things I've seen lately.

I live a strange hard to relate to life. I live in a town of less than 50 people, I'm a trans woman
I live in an 80/20 Trump heavy rural area and it has been much the same.

We (me,spouse, kid) attend bingo at the senior living center, volunteer at a community garden , hell last summer we ran a ring toss game at the local fair for all the kids.

The toxic rot at the heart of this slowly collapsing Empire is weaponized transphobia.

The only way to fight it, like the prerequisite for fighting it, is absolutely unimpeachable full throated stentorian acceptance, support, and allegiance to trans people. Anything less is capitulation.
As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

Funny how the “what is a woman?” crowd doesn’t seem to know that there’s no such thing as an “underage woman.”

“My administration will keep opening up public spaces like this because New Yorkers deserve to see their city…”

This is such a small thing but also such a big thing?!
It’s your city, from the sidewalk to the skyline. The David Dinkins Municipal Building’s rooftop is open & free to everyone, starting this June.

“diversity of tactics” has been a collectively shared ethos among leftists for easily a century.

anyone trying to browbeat you into *only* doing things their way is very likely either a grifter, a fed, a useful idiot, or all of the above.

I'm going to largely stay out of the "What activism is the good activism?" discourse, but you should really avoid anyone who claims to have the One True Strategy to bring social change. The truth is that it's usually dozens of different tactics (including the "cringe, normie" ones) all overlapping.
