i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. it feels like a mutually reinforcing cycle or something, loser electeds and loser voters caught in the loser loop and refusing to do a single thing differently despite absolutely hating where it has brought them

I love how Pam Bondi and the MAGA DOJ openly, shamelessly, and maliciously go after Trump's enemies, but Merrick Garland sat paralyzed for four years, terrified that prosecuting Trump for literally treasonable offenses would violate norms, precedent, and decorum. He must be so proud.

Justice Kavanaugh v. the Kavanaugh Stop
Interesting that Justice Kavanaugh decided he had to add footnote 4 to his concurrence, which addresses the "State’s underlying objections to the activities of federal immigration officers when they make immigration stops."

ICE killed an Eritrean Imam in one of their concentration camps this week. Can you imagine if it was a pastor? The dovetailing of #Islamophobia and immigration cruelty is because white Christian nationalism is our stated public policy. It really pisses me off. We have to fight it with all we’ve got.

This shows evidence to argue a legal entanglement between CBS and the Trump administration such that there is a “an infusion of conduct by officials, panoplied with State power, into [a] scheme” to deny protected rights, and accordingly, Bari Weiss=state action.

Check it out!

Americans having to bootleg broadcast news about our government’s offshored concentration camp is a level of fascism that immediately precedes democratic societies dropping leaflets on us from weather balloons.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

I watched it all. You should to. Even if you think you understand what's happening, I recommend it merely as a act of defiance against censorship.

Do it because they didn't want you to see it. Ask yourself why.

there is one and only one political strategy, and that is: “hang trump like an anchor around the neck of every single elected republican and the party itself.” no ‘friends across the aisle.’ no ‘the fever will break.’ anyone not on board with that has to go. no exceptions

the shitstorm that’s already brewing because of Bari’s decision to spike this story is going to end up being vastly more damaging to her and to the admin than allowing the story to air would have been

she’s an evil propagandist hack but she is also very bad at doing it in a way that isn’t hamfisted

Why would you need to put a pause on a story that has been meticulously fact-checked and lawyered?

Sounds like the kind of story you’d want to run right away!

Gets to key point. Letters of marque are most often issued by powers without a robust navy. It's the ultimate privatization. You take your seized vessel to a prize court at a port of the issuing power. Are you going to sell the cocaine? The boats themselves hardly look like valuable assets.

Blows my mind it hasn't even been a full year of congestion pricing in NYC yet. Years of cranks whining about it and then you just DO IT and everything is instantly better and everyone gets used to it and moves on. We should do good things more often!

PS - T-minus 12 days to Streets Mayor Mamdani!
I refuse to shut up about this: NYC started charging $9 to bring a car into our most transit-rich zone, the haters & trolls predicted doom, but traffic evaporated instantly and here’s Times Square tonite (even after the holiday tourists have left). For a better future, build transit & price driving!
