Realizing this is an implanted assumption that I have and thankful for this post to help me examine and rut it out.
A random thought: There’s a trope we’re all familiar with from TV & movies about con artists that you “can’t cheat an honest man,” that scammers exploit the greed of people looking to turn a shady profit. And they say this in part because usually those media are trying to make the cons sympathetic.

This is not to say non-fascist writing can’t suck. All artistic endeavor carries the risk of failure. Fascist art makes a virtue of shallowness and melodrama, because it affectively mobilizes those who feel the sting of mediocrity in a social structure in which they are meant to be supreme.
