In an interview this week, Ken Sim said that he had a list of all the times he said no to the Vancouver Police Department, and said a lot of their budget increases were out of the city's control.

We got the list. We looked at the budget.

Here is a fact check.

The headwaters of the St George Rainway. An actual current with riffles this morning, flexing the stems of the aquatic plants & bringing the sound of running water. This all-seasons park is the best thing COV's added to the neighborhood in my time here (25.5 yrs!)

Anyone who cares about Vancouver, whether you share Sean’s politics or not, should read through his multiple threads of citizens’ statements; folks range widely in age and income bracket but not in sentiment. ABC passing this budget will alienate the entire city.
Good morning. It’s budget day. I’m going to try and live skeet the proceedings so speakers know where we are at. First is staff presentation. 91 slides.

Ken Sim got told families are leaving faster than ever and was like “We’ll send changing table money to the police.”
Listening to Vancouver Council budget discussion in the background this morning. In response to a question from @seanorr.bsky.social about where they'll be retracting from the city just said they're planning to REMOVE baby changing tables and menstrual product dispensers to save costs. Shameful.

People Power showed up at City Hall.

And this is just the beginning. 360+ still on list to present.

Every single ABC Councillor should be doing some soul searching about what they've heard so far. Do the right thing. Stop these cuts.

Vancouver doesn't have to be this way.

very impressed by COPE Councillor Orr for reporting summaries of every speaker for this budget, and actually staying until the end unlike most ABC councillors

my crude count is there were less than 10 in favour, roughly 260 opposed, with around 330 more speakers to go.
269: in favour. Tune out noise if fear mongers who say sky is falling. This is not drastic cuts to budget. Wants full budget transparency. Heard about services but don’t know what a necessary sevice is. Scope creep.

Ken Sim has no mandate to make these brutal cuts.

ABC has no mandate to impose austerity.

The City's own Budget survey showed people overwhelmingly prefer tax rates that maintain public services.

We're fighting to stop these cuts and evict ABC.

Please get a coalition going now! Between you, ten council candidates, one mayoral candidate. A unified front against ABC and its spawn. You can iron out differences later, on council.
Should city councillors have to live in the communities they represent?

It’s not required in BC

It’s kind of funny cuz they can’t even vote for themselves
