Netchoice won their legal battle against Age verification in louisiana! This follows similar rulings in AK and OH!

This is huge!

These laws can be stopped, they can be overturned. Do not give in to dooming! Keep calling your reps and support orgs that fight these laws in court!

Fancy a digital chastity belt?

The government wants Apple and Google to stop you from taking or sending pics of your bits.

Intrusive scanning tech on your phone would block nudes unless you verify your age with biometrics or official ID.

It's creepy mission creep.

It couldn't be more obvious that this is about legacy media and the establishment no longer being able to condition public opinion about Gaza. Hillary Clinton gave the game away about a week ago when she blamed TikTok for rising anti-Zionist sentiment. They can't hide it very well.
I believe the Section 230 repeal is a very serious attempt for one simple reason: Gaza

US politicians are desperate to control the free flow of information online after the role social media played in activism around the genocide

The status quo on Israel has been threatened, senators are scared

Pulling on the threads of online censorship will make you lose your goddamn mind. Christian fundamentalists want to ban all adult content, and they're using payment processors to do it. It's a lousy conspiracy theory because they *proudly* boast about it in their press releases
There is no "safe" place for niche kinks or darker content until paypros change their policies. This is why the call/letter campaign is so important-- sites like Patreon, Itchio, Steam, etc, have to bend the knee because they companies are SO HUGE and control the entire money flow. It's a mess.
None of us are going to be able to create freely until those guys are brought to heel

Repealing Section 230 would chill free speech by allowing platforms, not users, to be held responsible for what its users say. Platforms will become much more censorious over what its users can post. This is extremely bad
They're trying to rush it. Call your reps, don't let them
Sen. WHITEHOUSE: We finally are moving to file a bipartisan Section 230 repeal bill. Waiting any longer serves no useful purpose.

This is a very divided vote. It means we've been encouraging dissent. It now goes to the full committee. Please keep calling and urging your reps to reject it
KOSA passed out of the subcommittee in the House on 13-10 vote. Meaning that they are FINALLY listening to some opposition. But not enough to prevent the other age verification bills from passing, let alone this.

They MUST listen to opposition. Losing this fight is NOT an option.

I 100% did not expect the govt to point at banks on behalf of the adult industry. We need to leverage the hell out of this

Remember Mastercard and Visa blaming "banking partners"? If banks face repercussions their alibis could start crumbling as they get pinched between angry consumers and the feds
Holy shit. Remember the Trump debanking EO? The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency identified adult entertainment as one such industry facing unfair treatment from banks. This is huge

while KOSA passed the subcommittee, there is still the full committee meeting it needs to go through before being voted on by the Senate/House

support is more split on it than you'd think, we just need to pull away enough votes to block it. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES!

Tomorrow the 11th, there will be a markup on various "child safety" bills

This is part of the process where they are debated and amended before moving forward

It is a good idea to make some rep calls TODAY and make it clear which bills are currently unacceptable and why
#savespeech #stopKOSA

ATTENTION! The House of Energy and Commerce has pushed a package of(now 18) "child safety" bills to a subcommittee markup.

This means the bills will be likely voted on to go to a FULL committee markup, which sends it out to the House.

Call the Committee. Tell them to vote NO

Tomorrow, a House Energy & Commerce subcommittee is voting on passing KOSA & several other age verification bills.

We need to spread mass opposition now. We cannot allow this to pass. We have to drive mass calls into congress NOW

As a pornographer myself, I feel... weird about creators who make distinctions between porn and other adult/sexual content. If you defend porn, your work will ALSO be defended. Don't be afraid to get down in the mud with us. You're gonna end up here anyway.
there is plenty of sexual content on steam. the problem isn't that valve is denying sexual content (though, as a near-monopoly, that would also be a problem) it's that valve is denying specifically sexual content that is non-pornographic, most notably in the horror genre.
It's pretty clear everyone would rather strawman me than have an actual conversation.

The content in Horses is sexual and well within Valve's right to say it violates their sexual content policies.

Horses has every right to exist. Valve has every right not to distribute it.

this is the moral panic

the idea that a story, painting, drawing, video game, or other creative work that depicts uncomfortable topics is the same thing as real life CSAM or violence against women is how we end up having to scan our faces to open Spotify

no one is harmed by fiction or art
Alright well probably last thing I’ll say about it. Horses was submitted in 2023 with a Minor in it. Valve: “we will not distribute content that appears, in our judgment, to depict sexual conduct involving a minor.” “Re-submissions of this app, even with modifications, will not be accepted.”

Keep calling. Ask for if any of your purchases are risking your credit card with the rules being enforced, and ask for clarity as to what is being blocked by the processor. But don't do it aggressively. Do it kindly, but firmly.
Morale at paypros call centers is in the toilet right now. It’s not just normal Black Friday stress, they’re being pounded. Corporate is pressuring bosses to end the paypros call campaigns. Source familiar w/ internals at MC stressed that folks should stand their ground but be kind to agents (1)

Just a heads up with all the Christmas markets and fairs on at the moment - if you see art or art-based pieces for sale, ask who the artist is, because the amount of people deceptively slapping "made locally" on pieces locally farted out by their computer and a genAI prompt is getting depressing
