Simard: Al Ritchie we're feeding 4k people a month. Only way we can do that is people step up and provide donations. #yqrcc

What I find interesting is that Sask is a petro-state, YQR is surrounded by wealthy farmers and MNC mines. Yet our public finances are drained and "we have no money". Why is that?

This chart was prepared by Deloitte for the city & published in the 2026-27 budget document as Appendix M2.
And OH! Look at that! The city's full time equivalents per 100 residents has been dropping steadily from 2016 to 2024. #yqrcc /10

Again… the Indoor Aquatic Facility project is not "a new swimming pool." It's MANY swimming pools and other rec facilities in an aquatics facility. It is going to be huge and well used. And, based on 2025 dollars, cheaper than the stadium we built for a professional football team. #yqrcc

What these "keep taxes low" muni politicians fail to realize is that, for low income people, property taxes are the LEAST of their worries. Cuts to services on the other hand increase other expenses dramatically.
A statement from the office of Mayor Andy Fillmore regarding the 2026-2027 #budget.

“Affordability is the top concern for everyone right now. Our job at City Hall must be to reduce the property tax burden on residents as much as possible." /1

Flores: When we heard a $40mil increase, but in perspective, what's the cost per household for this increase?
Admin: Right now, $30mil will be funded by delaying other projects. We'll be adding $10mil more debt. Roughly, for median household, that's $0.57 per month. #yqrcc

@alexanderquon.bsky.social Your items about the new aquatic centre lead off with & emphasize the cost with no information about the pool usage, the need for aquatic facilities in Regina & proportional to population studies.

If the Conservatives had won last month's election, the list of policy suggestions from Saskatchewan would have looked very different.

Not only are taxpayers on the hook for the Costco/GTH problem, but they're also on the hook for the basic infrastructure needed to build such a project. Costs that will never actually be recovered through property taxes.
