These online news sites need to stop saying how these famous people are killing themselves. That’s bad practice, my dudes. You don’t want to encourage it to vulnerable people. And you should put the suicide hotline at the top of the story, not the bottom. Good lord.

Man I’m gonna be real, marvel studios clearly has no faith in Doomsday if they are dumping loads of money to bring back Steve Rogers (since Chris wanted to stop playing the character) and to hire RDJ to play Doom (since it seems RDJ also wanted to stop playing a supe) What’s next, ScarJo?

The Kennedy Center board cannot rename the damn Kennedy Center. It is up to Congress.

Every time we ignore the "illegal" or "lack of power to do so" qualifiers, we are both enabling him and allowing the people who don't know better to remain misinformed. And YES, it IS our job to help.

Maybe it’s my fault for being chronically online but it feels so depressing being online now. I remember how much fun we all had on neopets and early YouTube and MySpace and our own little forums we made for niche shit. And now look at it. Everyone is just constantly saying mean shit for no reason.

I hate that every week there's something stupid like an Everyone Has To Drink Pee Now Bill and the alert sounds to CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES THIS IS NOT A DRILL and you really wish you could just trust them to not go for the pee drinking bill

A big part of the creative process is doing something the, looking back on it, realizing what you could do better, and then doing it again. Parts you create that never end up in the final version still contribute to it.

Skipping past all of that work skips all of the learning and improving too.

For better or worse, public figures are judged when they die — their character, contributions, beliefs. It's undeniable that millions have mourned Rob Reiner's tragic death, celebrating his talent and contributions. I suspect when a certain public figure kicks the bucket, sentiments wont be the same

This year started with the loss of David Lynch and is ending with the loss of Rob Reiner & Michelle.

Fuck this. What the fuck.

It was already weird enough for Mel to outlive David Lynch, who he helped discover and get him launched in Hollywood. I feel like Mel Brooks and Dick Van Dyke are going to be the two last living humans on this earth.

Rob Reiner was involved with @glaad.bsky.social as well and helped further progress on LGBTQ representation in media. He said of his work on behalf of LGBTQ rights:

“Each one of these steps makes us more one country, and reminds us we are all part of the family of man.”

He was a big donor to the org I worked for right out of college. I never met him, but I’ll always be grateful for everything he did for the queer community.
Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner made some great movies but he was also unafraid to speak the truth, and was one of the public voices who knew you don’t squander your platform, and only got louder about opposing evil fucks as he got older. Legend.

Ignore "North" and "American President" as next. That's 8-out-of-9 at the HIGHEST level. To be maybe our greatest rom-com director and throw in a Top 10 coming-of-age movie, an impeccable claustrophobic thriller, perfectly handled Sorkin, THE seminal mockumentary...

All ENDLESSLY rewatchable.
This has to be one of the greatest runs any director has ever experienced.
