All that care work you're doing, it still matters even when the world feels hopeless. It matters MORE.

You don't always have to be engaged in militant action. Or, care work IS militant, if you prefer.

Didn’t set out to make Covid Year Six our longest yet but then again it’s not every year all your mortal enemies—people who’ve been subjects of the podcast’s ire for nearly its entire run—all get drafted into the government at once to take a sledgehammer to anything they can find
In our latest, we look back at 2025, a year where normalization slipped into naturalization, as a cadre of villains who rose to prominence on the back of covid denial took the reins of the federal government to play out their revenge fantasies.

It’s Covid Year Six.

Can the democrats go one day without proposing the most idiotic idea possible? It's like they want Trump to take full control over the internet.
Sen. WHITEHOUSE: We finally are moving to file a bipartisan Section 230 repeal bill. Waiting any longer serves no useful purpose.

Oh. Cool. Just as the President is using every power he can to suppress dissent and stifle speech, @whitehouse.senate.gov and the @judiciarydems.senate.gov are trying to hand Trump a new tool to suppress speech online.

What a joke.

Pay for the kids to get comic making lessons!

Hire some comic artists and writers to come teach the kids!

I took a paneling class in college that changed my art forever, helping me storyboard better.

This will just stunt growth. It's an illusion pf opportunity.

sad indeed as some one else said either fade out a hero or go from hero to villain
Enter Colin Kaepernick
Keep an eye out!

As AI winds down while VC money runs out, they're going to continue following the same failed playbook Web3 used. They'll redirect the focus from big money (companies, entrepreneurs) to marginalized communities.

Prepare to see AI re-spun as a tool to empower women/POC/LGBT.

What strikes me over and over again about the reality we are currently creating with so-called “generative AI” is that it’s always pitched as saving human time and effort. But this is only true if you are a parasitic grifter. For anyone with principles, anyone who cares about reality
I mean we are absolutely in a place now where the only solution to this information disorder is for everyone to constantly evaluate the source of information. Never trust a chatbot, but also don't believe a video unless you know and trust where it comes from.

Unfortunately... that's a lot of work.

I spoke with Any Lucía López Belloza, the Babson College student who was on her way to surprise her family for Thanksgiving when ICE deported her.

"My 5-year-old sister still believes that I might go home for Christmas," she tells me.

Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

When you talk about public executions in terms of "masculine" virtue, I think it's okay to be a little toxic ("tiny-tox") and demand to know how much this guy spends on lotions.

I just checked masculine manly man Joe Londsdale's LinkedIn and can confirm he's never had a job that isn't "Sit at computer."
We should take it way more seriously than we do that these unspeakably wealthy and powerful men are publicly equating summary judgement and public execution with their gender.

That’s real sick. Real real sick.

The cool thing about prioritising using free and open source software is this almost never happens to me
All of the companies that make the software I use are increasing their prices, to account for an "investment" in AI.

I'm sat here imagining how my clients would feel if I added 30% to each invoice, because I "really got into gambling".
