I have friends who have lost absolutely everything: their homes, businesses, schools, and their beloved Lahainatown. It's wonderful to see all the help pouring in.
Friends, Kānaka Maoli pub folks are running a Books for Maui auction to raise funds for Lāhainā and are seeking donations from publishing industry folks. This fundraiser specifically centers Native Hawaiians in its relief efforts and is being run by Native Hawaiians. Please consider donating!

I can fast draft under deadline or when I'm super busy but lots of unstructured time? kills my creativity
writing is truly a mystery. I wrote a 72k draft in November 2022 while extremely busy. now, with a wealth of free time, I can rarely manage 1k a day

And for international/ESL writers in particular it was in many cases the only way of building a professional network and getting to know the industry intimately. It still saddens me to know that many other people won't get the chance that I got there. So much.
For a lot of us, losing Twitter isn’t really about losing ties to the company itself. It’s losing 10+ years of real, asynchronous communities, professional development, the ability to get gigs and clients, the ability to promo/share your art on an extremely broad scale. The loss of that has impact.
