In any other administration this would be front page news for days on end. Members of Congress would be calling for his resignation.
It’s been five days since floods in Texas killed at least 111 people and FEMA’s Acting Administrator David Richardson still hasn’t made a single public or internal statement.

NEW from me — I wrote about FEMA Acting Administrator David Richardson, who has been completely silent and out of view since deadly floods devastated Texas last week, and spoke to staffers about what it's like to respond to a disaster with no leader.

Read here:
Have you seen this man?
In the wake of deadly floods in Texas, FEMA Acting Administrator David Richardson is nowhere to be found.

He was also one of the far right politicians using his platform to spread disinformation about FEMA funding during the Helene response.

Not a good guy.

Do not frame Cameron Hamilton as some kind of resistance hero for simply saying FEMA should exist.

He accepted a position he was not qualified for and has spent months overseeing the illegal dismantling of key parts of the agency to the detriment of the safety of the American public.

The dismissal of NCCC/FEMA Corps has been grating on me even more than other firings.

These are young people effectively volunteering their time for public service, often working in difficult conditions& genuinely helping the ppl in this country most in need.

You can’t ask for better than that.

God. This just sucks.
one young person told me: “I want people to know about what they did to Americorps. For many of us, this was our way to pay for college, to get away from home, to figure out what to do with our lives, it was a big step. And they just ripped it out from under us without even a 2-week’s notice.”

Destroy DOGE, undo every bit of its work, and render every DOGE employee unemployable in their professional field for life. End their careers and shame them in every way we can. And make them see that we fixed the government and everything they did was for naught.
Hearing the same from a direct source. People in Americorps being told they're done. It's over. No notice.
My bff’s son works for Americorps and received a decommissioning letter today. DOGE is gutting the program. I’m so angry and disappointed DOGE would go after a program that does such good work. @marisakabas.bsky.social @kairyssdal.bsky.social @katiephang.bsky.social

People would actually care about gutting FEMA if they understood it meant the possibility of things like not receiving tornado warnings, no search and rescue teams coming to save them in an earthquake, no flood insurance, no extra medical help, no money to rebuild.
this is a good example of the attitude that has led democrats down the road to disaster. it rests on the belief that public opinion cannot be shaped or mobilized or moved, only reacted to

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it.

Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice.

But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word.

They aren’t firing for a reason.

This isn’t what the email offers in any case. It’s not severance. You have to stay on staff until your resignation date in 7 months—if you leave earlier you don’t get the pay—and there’s no guarantee even in the text that they’ll put you on paid leave during that time.
Trump sows chaos in federal workforce then says “resign within a week and I’ll give you 7 months severance.” Don’t fall for it!  Trump told innumerable contractors he’d pay—then stiffed them. He has no authority to promise severance pay. Wait him out!

Trump offers all federal workers a buyout with 7 months' pay in effort to shrink size of government
The Trump administration says it will begin subjecting all federal employees to “enhanced standards of suitability and conduct” and is warning of future downsizing.

Something that basically no one outside of emergency management understands is the distinction between failures in how a response is being managed versus pre-disaster mitigation/ preparedness failures.
