Ok, serious question. How do people's crafting hobbies coexist with cats? Especially fiber crafts.

I'm trying to hand stitch a basic clothing repair and the biggest challenge is convincing my cat he needs to be anywhere in the house other than on my lap.

At least the jacket is wearable again.

For the past couple weeks, I've been in situations where people are usually grumpy but this time were weirdly warm and cheerful.

The optimistic side of me that refuses to die thinks people have collectively decided that the world sucks so everyone needs to make their own corner of it better.

But I'd like to see the tech bros try, as long as they go to supervise in person.
Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

Each like gets you one take on Nordic myth or modern Paganism, each repost gets a pop culture take!

"This stew is really good. You should do this recipe again."

Sorry, my dude. If I call it stew, it means you're getting fridge surprise and there is virtually no chance of doing that exact combo again.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

My mom was pressuring me to fly for Thanksgiving rather than make a 7-hour drive involving a mountain pass that may or may not be closed for snow on any given day from October through March.

Really glad I didn't listen, and now she can't guilt me if I have to cancel for the aforementioned snow.

Excited to discover we no longer share a planet with Dick fucking Cheney. It's honestly the best news we're likely to have this week.

(C'mon, Universe, prove me wrong and give us something even better.)

As a NorCal native, I'm usually contractually obligated to support anyone playing the Dodgers. But after the year they've had I'm super happy for all of LA right now.

at this point I think people should go from "we need to do a general strike", to disseminating information how exactly to do a general strike.

I think not knowing how, or if it'd even be possible, might be stopping people. Now is the time to start spreading the information on how to go about it

my trick is i don’t believe electoralism is the most effective form of politics, so i view it as having lower stakes than a lot of folks.

i want progressive Democrats to win, but if they ignore us & continue to fail, then we will just move forward as a culture without them.

fellow radicals, if you're shitting on the "No Kings" protests without proposing alternatives and doing the work of building a mass resistance movement, you're not helping

Yesterday a grandma and her friend were WAY over the fitting room item limit at the thrift store. They were looking for the most ridiculous outfits possible before making the 4-hour drive to join the Portland protests. Everyone who might have complained was super supportive.

I was working on a project where math got icky and wanted to show my teammates what made it so interesting. Their eyes glazed over as soon as they saw numbers.

It felt like Quark doing forensic accounting in front of the Klingon High Council, and tbh a bat'leth duel sounds really fun right now.
