I hate it when my family argues about politics at Thanksgiving. My Independent Dad is yelling at my Covenanter cousin for allying with the king while my Fifth Monarchist uncle keeps making cryptic pronouncements about the Book of Daniel, and here I am, a Leveller.

For like the zillionth time: Libraries are FREE for you, but WE still get compensated for our work!!
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

Here's an interesting blog post about RPGs other the D&D, what they do, and how different systems support and demand different sorts of play. Thirty years ago, this is what I wanted to see one day: lots of story-oriented RPGs on the shelves.

I saw so many "AI" panels listed for PLA next year which read as just completely tone deaf to me. So much of the culture of AI is directly in opposition to the mission of libraries, not to mention the many many other issues every AI company and model has.
“The current proliferation of AI that we see particularly in the library and education spaces would not be possible at the speed and scale that is happening without the precedent of book bans leading into it.” — @maggietokudahall.bsky.social

🪐📚💙 Really enjoyed Lives of Bitter Rain, an excellent character study that does a lot to flesh out one of my favorite characters from Days of Shattered Faith and the world of the Tyrant Philosophers.
Book Review – Lives of Bitter Rain by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Adrian Tchaikovsky's Tyrant Philosophers series has been one of my favorite new fantasy series over the last few years. These novels are wonderfully written, with an intriguing and extremely well crafted magepunk world. Lives of Bitter Rain follows Sage-Invigilator Angilly, one of the focus characters of Days of Shattered Faith, through her career and the path that takes her to Usmai.
