Our own propaganda was so powerful it has echoed through generations and seeded discontent into the population 75 years later as we compare ourselves to a world that never existed
The 50s were a victory lap for WW2 US propagandists turned advertisers, shilling a utopian view of tomorrow so hard we compare ourselves to something that didn’t exist

So Bezos is in them too then?
The Washington Post editorial board decided the Epstein files have “no public interest” before even seeing them. That’s a stunning position for any newsroom to take. Praising Clay Higgins as the lone ‘no’ vote, too? No wonder no one trusts legacy media. Absolutely disgusting.

In these moments, fear is contagious, but so is courage:

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

@gelliottmorris.com's piece on what Americans actually want from parties is fascinating. It also (re-)produces a classic finding: Almost no one is in the "socially liberal but economically conservative" bucket, but those who are have very popular Substacks

For me it's the way the press pool just quietly went along with it because he's the president

The entire point of this country is that we don't have to let some guy do whatever he wants just because of his title. We don't have to respect him or go along with him just because he holds an office
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

The problem with this is that "Influencer" is a job/career that attracts a certain kind of person that is typically anathema to what you want here.

Otherwise, Dave Bautista already exists.
Tim Miller makes a plea for more straight, woke influencers: "This is a message for hot straight men with muscles who work out, and who are also woke. We just need you to just do a little bit of commentary."

BREAKING: At Pope Leo XIV’s urging, U.S. Catholic bishops just delivered the strongest rebuke of a sitting president in Church history — condemning Trump-Vance raids as “inhumane” and “dehumanizing” in a 216–5 vote.
NEW: At Pope Leo’s Urging, Bishops Issue Historic Rebuke of Trump’s Raids
Nearly all U.S. Catholic bishops united in Baltimore to denounce the Trump administration’s “inhumane” deportation campaign — a near-unanimous, unprecedented moral stand against a sitting president.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

Oh, ok, so Epstein advised Lavrov about how to handle Trump, which means that since early in Trump's first term, Trump has known the Russians have his child rape kompromat.

The only thing to do is to call for resignation and move forward with impeachment. There is no other option.
