With the cancellation of Project Bifrost, my time at People Can Fly is at an end. It’s been an honor working with such a passionate, creative, freakishly talented team.

So now I’m officially #OpenToWork, if you know a team in need of an experienced Lead/Principal/Senior Game Designer. #GameJobs

far too many people view narrative this way and it is one of the biggest causes of why a game's narrative does not fully connect, narrative specialists are either brought in too late to do anything or just completely ignored and overruled at every turn because "the final text is all narrative is"
It's also notable of course that it's easier for executives to think of writing as just taking a dry outline and making it "sound good" when they've already been reducing writers to this for years.

Last year I saw an argument that Die Hard is about winning a miraculous victory, against insurmountable odds, to defend a hilltop fortress from invaders—so it is actually a Hanukkah movie

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

I have limited expectations for a Street Fighter movie, but “Andrew Koji kicks people” is one of those magic phrases like “Michelle Yeoh has a sword”

I don’t understand why the Game Awards “pre-show” is a pre-show. There are awards. There are trailers & reveals. That’s just the show.

also it’s tiresome and we’re all busy but this is another reminder why in this low-info, AI-poisoned, high-bullshit social media ecosystem we all are unfortunately in now, it’s CRITICAL to check up on primary sources even/especially if the conclusions are something that “seems right”.

Mark zuckerberg, summer 2021: “within five years, people will see us as primarily a metaverse company.”

Mark Zuckerberg, winter 2025: “jk jk guys. But hey the AI revolution is inevitable amirite?”
Reality Labs spent $70 billion+ over the past 4 years, per @mikeisaac.bsky.social, without developing, launching, & scaling any killer app for Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for a #metaverse. Now, Meta is pivoting from virtual reality to smartglasses with AI to augment our vision. (I expect to see… ads.)

Pretty much ANY statistic you see cited to frighten you about vaccines comes from the VAERS database. (Including the recent evidence-free missive from Vinay Prasad). Here's why VAERS can NEVER be a proper source for population-level vaccine risk estimates.

I remember Dawning Realization Month for the NFT people too. Think this is going to take much longer because of how wrapped up the whole economy is in this, but it really feels like it's happening.
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

It has some games, there weren’t much,
Developers felt afraid to touch,
A small matte metal cube with chamfered grooves yeah,
And even though it all went wrong,
That Kickstarter was so damn strong,
Crowd funded micro-console they call Ouya
Now I heard there was a tiny box
Engraved with names like Minecraft Notch
And Brian Fargo and FourZeroTwo, yeah
But though it promised games for free
And mobile ports on your TV
It's a cold and it's a broken Founders' Ouya

As 2025 winds to a close, we say goodbye to a few members of our team whose work was instrumental in bringing Ambrosia Sky: Act One to life.

Each of these folks is an incredible talent. Though we've made the difficult decision to part ways for now, I'd be lucky to work with any of them again.

there is almost no feedback I will reflexively ignore as a game developer but “you shouldn’t name something X because people don’t know that word” is one of them. oh no! You might learn a new word! God forbid you take away a piece of knowledge from a game that’s not a brand of gun or some shit lol

that Twitter screenshot allegedly revealing the DHS account is operated from Tel Aviv is probably fake because 1) it originated from an anime shitposter on Twitter, 2) the formatting does not align with other accounts subject to the feature [it revealed only countries, not specific cities]
