Their closing message to Indiana: change your maps to artificially benefit the President's political party or 'roads will not be paved' as punishment.

They are openly saying this.

Who would want to live in a country that works like that?

Senate Armed Services Dems are calling the Pentagon investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly "an outright, brazen abuse of power" in a letter to the Navy Secretary.

They say the probe amounts "to a purely political exercise seeking to threaten legitimate and lawful actions by a duly elected Senator."
Senate Democrats call Kelly investigation 'brazen abuse of power'
The letter says an investigation into Mark Kelly following a Nov. 18 video telling military members to refuse illegal orders is 'patently political.'

A clear-cut ethics violation by Judge Emil Bove. But less serious perhaps than his showing up and consulting with Todd Blanche and Pam Bondi about how to handle Judge Boasberg after his nomination had been sent to the Senate—and even after he had been confirmed to the Third Circuit.

1. Missouri prefiled bills are in, and the anti-trans panic continues.

One even goes as far as to ban social transition in schools.

Any teacher who "supports" it, including name changes, pronouns, or "treatment," would be fired.

Even with parent permission!

New Missouri Bill Would Ban "Social Transition" In Schools, Even With Parental Permission
The bill defines social transition as name changes and pronouns, and would disallow any "conduct that facilitates" such social transition.

On the patently unlawful boat strikes

It's hard for USGs to claim ‘mistake of law’ or ‘advice of counsel’ – when they’re firing lawyers who wouldn't sign off on the strikes.

Exactly. This is why I’ve said it’s a business model issue. It’s a “corporate news” issue because the incentives all point that way.
All CEOs have these incentives and the amoral ones follow them.

Sulzberger no exception. It’s still his fault. He runs the place.
Totally agree - the incentives are roughly the same for corporate CEOs and corporate boards which also unsurprisingly are kind of the same people

100% right on. This is Lost Cause writing.

And Sulzberger has created a culture at the Times that hires people to do this. It’s on Sulzberger.
This "Lost New York" story is how Margaret Mitchell wrote of the antebellum south in "Gone With the Wind." It's how Henry Hill talked about the pre-Lufthansa Heist days in the New York mob in "Goodfellas."
