I remember talking to an AI guy on a game about an enemy that was acting weird and he showed me the state tree and how smart it was at re-evaluating criteria and using fuzzy logic and meanwhile the enemy was bouncing off of every surface in the room and spinning in place and I had to be like, "man,"
