This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

I do not believe that anti-Zionism is antisemitic, and I have consistently argued against those who say it is, but if you see the act of condemning anti-Diaspora antisemitism as inherently Zionist and pro-Israel, you are really telling on yourself.
The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...
Mamdani's first statement on antisemitism as mayor-elect got some weird pushback
After someone spraypainted a swastika on a yeshiva, Zohran Mamdani condemned antisemitism. Somehow, this generated conspiracy theories.

MPD is having a fucking field day right now. They’re establishing the checkpoints we’re seeing. They’re rolling up at schools. The city’s encampment eviction team is bypassing local protocol & clearing camps with no notice.

The Feds opened the door & the city is happily joining in.
Mayor Muriel Bowser has praised the surge and reserved her criticisms for ICE wearing masks. But tonight at a local school it was MPD who pulled up their gaiter, put on gloves, and approached me masked.

Two important things to note:

1) the most significant violence we’ve seen this year was not against ICE or Trump or members of his administration, but against Democrats

2) when ICE scoffs at people asking for warrants or for identification, THIS IS WHY THEY ASK

It's disappointingly predictable just how awful Matt has gotten.
I watched large portions of this segment and at one point @mattyglesias.bsky.social threw up this slide, said Dems are "making bad press on this issue" and moved on.

But the polling is wildly on Dem's side on this one! Opponents of what the Trump admin is doing with him outnumber supporters 2-1!

yeah this is the other thing, thompson is either being a useful idiot or deliberately a part of the WH trying to distract from a half dozen things today (the budget bill failing in committee, scotus ruling against trump again, etc.) bsky.app/profile/conv...
This was exclusively provided to him by the WH before other publications btw.

Great, so Senate Democrats can come out refreshed with the hot new battle plan of trying to be watered-down polite Republicans then blaming progressives and the left when this fails to rally the Dem base, fails to pick up swing voters, and gets laughed at by GOP voters.

This is not an impressive defense. Literally every “consequence” of a government shutdown is a description of things Trump and Musk are already doing

just incredible work from Jake Tapper, who dipped out of Bluesky when it became clear the common rabble on this website were allowed to tell him he was full of shit
This is like one of Germany’s best known journalists putting out a “how Hindenburg screwed up” book in April of 1933, six weeks after the Enabling Act gave Hitler dictatorial powers.

This is what’s wrong with Dems, going forward make sure only democratic companies, supporters reap benefits of America and leave the right in the wilderness. You vote right you don’t support America so fuck em
friendly reminder that the best case scenario over the coming years is that a lot of people say "I supported Trump but this isn't what I wanted at all" and when they do that it's gonna be really, really important that we say "welcome in," not "fuck you, we told you so"

Ange might lose his job because Lange spent the last summer too scared to make a tough call and built a paper thin squad, so firing Ange doesn’t actually fix anything, but Spurs might be dumb enough to do it anyway
