Yesterday's other big theme, besides how much the electorate hates Trump, is that voters really want more housing built.
I truly never thought I’d see the day when Marin County voters went pro-housing; but they appear to have opted to upzone parts of Sausalito(!) and rejected the housing-centric recall effort against the mayor of Fairfax.

The most normal thing in the world for a young white man is to be obsessed with D-Day!
this also drives me insane, this idea that it is the most normal thing in the world for a young (white) man to have a nazi curious phase. it isn’t!

the Trump administration and its collaborators believe that, by winning an election, they haven't been temporarily given an office with named, limited powers, but rather have defeated their opponents on the field of battle and earned the right to dominate them.
None of this is particularly surprising. But it's nevertheless utterly shocking! There's no measure of restraint at all. No trace of any residual sense of commitment to something even remotely recognizable as a democratic political culture. It is so unhinged. These people have made their choice.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

It doesn't make any sense to conceive of due process as a right that individual people can have or not have at all tbh. Bad framing from the start. Due process is a restriction on the government's actions, and by definition it applies to either everyone or no one.

Its insane that American politics now more or less revolves around infrequently passing a single comically large overstuffed money bill instead of like... normal legislation

Q: Do you think it would've been fitting to lower the flags to half staff when Melissa Hortman, the Minnesota House Speaker, was gunned down by an assassin?

TRUMP: I'm not familiar. The who?

What’s surreal is knowing that if the Nazis do kill me, any media coverage would be “he was no angel,” pulling out the out-of-context posts the Nazis are using to try to depict me as a maniac. Because that’s the narrative they think makes them look savvy. Meanwhile demagogue Kirk gets canonized

This is most of the ball game as far as economic perception. Left leaning influencers always say the economy is shitty, right wingers are strictly partisan in their assessments. This effects perception
Dem electeds want influencers in media to say stuff like "I sure do approve of the job our wonderful Dem electeds are doing" when the thing Dems need influencers to actually say is like "the shitty economy is really shit right now huh"

dems don’t have this because in order to be that way, you have to believe in and care about some cause or vision of the social order more than you do friendships, yourself, the existing institutions, and the “rules.” and the dems who control the party hate those qualities
not saying these folks want the mirror image of the lawlessness per se but: one ferociously dedicated battering ram willing to do or say anything and force practically the entire government even people who technically outrank him to violate laws and norms, for the purpose of ruthlessly executing…

It's simply amazing to me that the U.S. spent 70 years (1945-2015) constructing a post-WW2 military, economic, and social world order to its liking, only to turn around and decide it was actually the victim of this order the entire time.

imo, if someone believes some races or ethnicities are genetically inferior to others, that person has revealed a weakness of mind and character that casts extreme if not irrefutable doubt on their other ideas. why would i expect them to use more rigor on, eg, housing than they do on human nature?
