Gift shopping for loved ones can be demoralizing because it's oh, you love them? Name literally anything they would like.

My piano teacher said she mistook my brother for me because he had gained some weight.

She insulted us both in one shot 🤣
What's an insult you'll never forget?

Oh boy, my son has decided to watch Home Alone.

That movie scared me so much about intruders that I boobytrapped my house; put jump ropes and balls across the stairs.

My parents ended up getting a security system just to reassure me enough so they could go up the stairs.

One specific thing I learned during the Kennedy Center tour is that the center itself is the Kennedy Memorial, filled with gifts from nations in honor of our late president. It'd be like re-naming the Lincoln or Washington Memorial.
The Kennedy Center name is established by federal statute, and therefore may be repealed only by federal statute. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

Another reminder that libraries are awesome.

I saw that WSJ article about Claude running their vending machine. Found out my library offers free 3-day subscriptions, so I could immediately read it.

Also, found out I could borrow an infrared camera. Why? I don't know, but it'll be fun to try out.

Trying to get a replacement Ikea Hemnes Rail.

Manual has two different part numbers and does not differentiate part numbers for left or right rail.

Placed an order and now I get to find out if the part number is right, if they'll send me the correct rail, or just send me a matched pair.

Exciting!

Literally live 5 min from my parents' house, so that hit of nostalgia for a hometown is completely foreign to me.
as someone who has lived my entire life within 20 minutes of where i grew up i am charmed/fascinated by the ~normal~ american thanksgiving experience of returning to your roots, seeing family you normally don't, meeting up with old friends. it sounds so interesting and cinematic

BTW, the name Elphaba is a reference to "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" author L. Frank Baum.
