"It's just concept art, who cares if they use genAI and not actual artists?"

Look at this concept art for C-3P0 by Ralph McQuarrie.

It's the very thing that inspired Anthony Daniels to go for the role of Threepio and perform him as such.

It is the first heartbeat of the art that now exists.

A massive overnight repo injection usually means stress in the financial system, banks needed emergency cash because normal funding markets were tight. When the Fed steps in at this scale, it’s a warning sign, not economic strength.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Two independent studies found that AI chatbots were better at persuading voters than political ads. The most persuasive bots also lied the most. This is something that humans working in psyops have known for decades. AI is psyops at scale. www.technologyreview.com/2025/12/04/1...

"83% of heavy AI users couldn’t recall key points from what they’d “written,” compared to only 10 percent of those who composed unaided." This is my argument to my students: my class will be excruciating if they don't write their own stories & critiques, bc in class they have to explain*why*.
An excellent and brutal article. I don't think the situation is quite as hopeless as some of this suggests, but the challenges are enormous. Our only chance, as ever, is to hold together: bring faculty, well-meaning administrators, and especially students together: human learning for human beings.
If ChatGPT can generate student essays, complete assignments, and even provide feedback, what remains of the educational transaction?

To be clear Lizza’s story is that Nuzzi sat on important matters of national significance for personal benefit and he’s sat on these details until he could personally benefit.

All of DC media needs to be thrown into the sea. Anyone who defends these people is a goddamn clown.

The games business is about games. If you’re in the games business, and somehow (as often happens) your company somehow is now focused on something else (AI, XR, “IP,” acquisitions, etc.) you’re in for a period of struggle. Everyone will wonder what’s wrong. But you know. It’s about games. Gameplay.

There are two futures:

1) global genocide, food production crash, climate disasters push majority to poverty, billionaires & merc armies thrive

2) confiscate wealth of broligarchs voluntarily or jail them, redistributing to build green power/transpo/etc., everyone has min & max living standard
The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.
