It makes absolutely no sense to speak of any necessity for the United States to take over Greenland. The United States has no legal basis to annex one of the three countries of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Kingdom of Denmark - and thus Greenland — is a member of NATO and is therefore covered by the Alliance's collective security guarantee. We already have a defence agreement between the Kingdom of Denmark and the United States that grants the U.S. broad access to Greenland. In addition, the Kingdom has made significant investments in security in the Arctic. It makes absolutely no sense to speak of any necessity for the United States to take over Greenland. We have been a close and loyal friend of the United States for generations. We have stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. We have taken responsibility for security in the North Atlantic - and not least for North America. That is what true friends do. Precisely for that reason, the current and repeated rhetoric coming from the United States is entirely unacceptable. When the President of the United States speaks of "needing Greenland" and links us to Venezuela and military intervention, it is not only wrong. It is disrespectful. Our country is not an object in great-power rhetoric. We are a people. A country. A democracy. That must be respected — especially by close and loyal friends. We are part of NATO, and we are fully aware of our country's strategic location. We also understand that our security depends on good friends and strong alliances. In that context, a respectful and loyal relationship with the United States is very important. That has been the case for decades. But alliances are built on trust. And trust requires respect. Threats, pressure, and talk of annexation have no place between friends. That is not how one speaks to a people who have repeatedly demonstrated responsibility, stability, and loyalty. Enough is enough. No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more fantasies of annexation. We are open to dialogue. We are open to conversations. But they must take place through the proper channels and in full respect of international law. And the proper channels are not random and disrespectful posts on social media. Greenland is our home and our territory. And it will remain so.

taz • taz: Was muss sich ändern? Küpper: Erst mal sollten wir aufhören, die Diskurse der AfD aufzugreifen. Zu denken, man kriegt Wähler der AfD wieder, indem man hinter ihnen herläuft, halte ich für einen großen Irrtum. Das sehen wir beim Diskurs um •Remigration - ein Begriff, der vor zwei Jahren noch als „Deportation" verstanden wurde, wird jetzt hingenommen und normalisiert. Aus unserer Geschichte haben wir doch gelernt, wie schnell so etwas gehen kann. 1933 konnten sich die Leute auch nicht vorstellen, dass sie 1938 zusehen, wie ihre Nachbarn aus ihren Wohnungen deportiert werden und sie sich anschließend deren schönes Kaffeeservice unter den Nagel reißen. Das geht ruckzuck. Bestimmte Dinge sollten wir einfach sein lassen: hinterherlaufen, Diskurse aufnehmen, die vorgegeben werden.

Parts of the US „national security strategy“ read like Peter #Thiel and Elon #Musk wrote them while bingeing on Ketamine, blood transfusions from young white males and Ozempic for a weekend.
But this economic decline is eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilizational erasure. The larger issues facing Europe include activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political liberty and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating strife, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, cratering birthrates, and loss of national identities and self-confidence.

Wie ich diese Strategie der kalkulierten Grenzüberschreitung mit anschließender Pseudoreue verachte. Die CDUCSU hat denjenigen, die Anfang 25 die Kooperation mit der AfD kritisierten, danach die kleine Anfrage reingedrückt. Da ist keine Einsicht, nirgendwo.

Das Wort von "linken Gewaltmärschen" ist angesichts der Polizeigewalt von Giessen gegenüber überwiegend friedlich gegen Rechtsextremisten protestierenden Bürgern zutiefst obszön und wird diesem Ministerpräsidenten hoffentlich noch lange nachhängen.

I absolutely hate this. Cutting funding for this program actually costs more because people are homeless again and have to access other programs. But while right-wing parties bang on about saving money they’re actually just being cruel to those less fortunate than themselves.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if political ideology doesn’t stand in the way.
