YEAH, Nick happened to look up RAM the other night and almost fell out his chair at the prices. FUCK ME. Something like 64Gb (NOT A LOT) was $600. This is like the 90s - hell, this is WORSE pricing than the 90s. FUCK AI. FUCK AI. FUCK AI.

Oh, did I mention FUCK AI?

Yeah.
I'm feeling more lucky than smart that I bought a new laptop three months ago and won't need a new one for a while, and that my two desktops have 64GB and 128GB RAM, respectively

Hells yes. Penn Jillette is an extremely intelligent man and I'd wondered if/when he might correct his course. I'm so happy to see that he did CORRECT IT and has balls enough to say it OUT LOUD. Love him!
Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

No gonna lie, this made me CACKLE! "user base of approximately 38 people" LOL LOL 😂
Meta’s Reality Labs division has racked up more than $70 billion in losses since 2021, according to Bloomberg, burning through cash on blocky virtual environments, glitchy avatars, expensive headsets, and a user base of approximately 38 people as of 2022. trib.al/bwdTpSK

Great article. Especially the female rage parts. That is pretty much why I am so noncompliant and adversarial - especially with male managers who try to micromanage and/or control my every movement. NOPE.
The true Gen X reaction to being lauded as the "greatest generation" would be to narrow its eyes suspiciously and mutter "whatever" when asked about it

The hell you say? I large corporation tells their employees to go fuck themselves? NO WAY. SIGH. It'd be great if the employees could just not show up that day, but we all know they'd lose their shitty jobs if they did that. Sucks.

Makes me ILL.
The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.
October 22, 2025 at 6:36 PM
This right here. Sigh. I hate this timeline.
The destruction of the East Wing really bums me out in a way that I wasn't expecting.

I guess some of it is about the destruction of history. But I think it's mostly about the feeling of helplessness. There's nothing we can do to stop him.

Nobody is coming to save us. And it's going to get worse.

Read it.
New from me:

There's a lot of misinformation around the reasons I was fired from WaPo.

Here's the official termination letter I got sent by Washington Post.

Read and judge for yourself.

THIS IS IMPORTANT. Here is a letter from the GA journalist, Mario Guevera, who was arrested by ICE at the June 14 protests here in Atlanta. He is STILL in custody and his appeal was denied, so he is now being deported.

READ THIS STORY.

@roughdraftatlanta.com I just found out that Keke's Breakfast Cafe is going into the abandoned Applebee's at Cofer Crossing in Tucker. You're welcome! (I stopped to claim a couple of metro shelves from the refurb.) They said the buildout is scheduled to be 15 weeks.

Made herb laminated ravioli today! Laminated basil and mint into the pasta and filled with duxelles (minced mushrooms). Top are the tools I used, bottom is the laminated pasta and the finished 40 ravioli. I used one batch of pasta with about 6oz of duxelles. Long pasta is the leftover for dinner.

I may have to get this one. I live in ATL and I know how fucked up housing is here.
This book is riveting and so, so infuriating. It follows 5 families in Atlanta who are struggling to remain housed and paints deeply compassionate portraits of each unit. It reads almost like a novel but is outstanding journalism
