We've not spent enough time talking about this administration as unamerican, rather than cruel or wrong or illegal. This stuff just is not who we are.
Homeland Security doesn’t grasp the fact that the first Thanksgiving was about making “room at the table” for European “invaders.”

The CA bar is extremely lenient with prosecutors (even more so than the usual kid gloves prosecutors get) but this really needs to merit severe sanctions.
Prosecutors in California used A.I. to argue that a 57-year-old man should be held without bail, his lawyers say, filing a brief that included wholesale misinterpretations of the law, as well as quotations that do not actually appear in the cited texts. nyti.ms/3M1bVye
Prosecutor Used Flawed A.I. to Keep a Man in Jail, His Lawyers Say
The case is among the first in which a prosecutor is accused of filing court papers marred by A.I.-generated mistakes.

You know what we won't need once handwriting recognition software has done its thing? Archivists, curators, conservators, catalogers, codicologists, or paleographers. We won't need archives either. We won't need diplomatics, editorial theory, book or media history, or material culture studies 🗃️🧵

I’ve decided - I wanna start a fight. So, #conlaw folks: who is the worst possible Justice of the modern era? Would putting Robert Bork on the Supreme Court would have avoided this moment or just accelerated the rot/deterioration? Should we have taken the L with Harriet Myers to avoid Aliti?

a beautifully-done but distressing article here

it tells you about the future SCOTUS might plunge us under in just a mere few months, if not less — be sure to read it
If SCOTUS conservatives gut VRA protections from election discrimination, it won't just threaten POC seats in Congress. It is more often used to protect local elections — like in Fayette, TN, where officials used racist voting maps to ensure an all-white county board:

Black Residents in West Tennessee Just Won Fairer Districts. Now Comes SCOTUS. - Bolts
The Supreme Court may further erode the Voting Rights Act in an upcoming decision. Beyond affecting Congress, that would reverberate across local governments nationwide.
