University of Chicago being gutted because of insane debt loads and wasting money on crypto is incredibly ironic after what their school of economics put the global south through. Behind, the neoliberal boomerang.
The University of Chicago has a debt of over $6 billion, against an endowment of $10 billion. They played with crypto. That's more than irresponsible.

Their board of trustees contains a surprising number of people regarded as financial geniuses.

The takeover is a “performative” “stunt” in the sense that it’s political theater designed to distract from Trump’s tanking approval rating and the Epstein scandal.

But it’s also more than that: an authoritarian show of force that is genuinely terrorizing innocent people.

Trump’s Takeover of D.C. Is Not a Distraction. It’s the Whole Point.
Yes, his approval rating is tanking and he’s still trying to shake the Epstein scandal. But he’s been foreshadowing this authoritarian power grab for years—and yet Democrats still weren’t ready for it.

I seriously thought that students not using their brains and letting them rot inside their heads was going to be the existential problem with ai in academia, but now I see that the death knell is actually the total disruption of good faith and trust between teachers and students
A friend of mine is having trouble with a professor who insists (because of Turnitin) that their paper is 40% AI generated. Out of curiousity I ran a paper I wrote in 2012 through Justdone (Turnitin seems to require me to have an account) and what the fuck

Ed Martin, the acting US Attorney for Washington, DC, had recently been peppering medical journals with “vaguely threatening” letters accusing them of acting as “partisans” in scientific debates.

But what does RFK Jr. have do do with it? Let’s dig in.
RFK Jr. may have inspired acting US Attorney’s harassment of medical journals

You cannot learn to write good research papers if you do not read good research papers.

I was losing my bearings there for a minute, thinking that Harvard University may not actually be maximally meretricious, but gravity has been restored.
Harvard just handed all school and disciplinary records of international students to DHS. Absolutely contemptible. They're putting their own students in danger and lying by telling them that everything is ok. These students could be black bagged to Louisiana or El Salvador after this.

Bukele doesn't "have something" on Trump.

Trump isn't afraid to fight for Garcia's return. He doesn't want him returned.

Trump and Bukele are engaged in a mutually-beneficial authoritarian partnership designed to profit off the destruction of legal protections. That's it. It isn't that hard.
