The Home Sec is entirely right. The *vast* majority of the British public will agree with her that this weekend is not a weekend for a march like this. And it will have an impact on what they think of the marchers and their cause.
NEW: Home secretary Shabana Mahmood urges pro-Palestine protesters to consider not taking part in marches this weekend.

"Imagine if you lost a loved one to a terror attack in this country ... sometimes a little unity, a little solidarity, some love to other people is required"

Absolutely !!!insane!!! to me that the UK government, lobby and newspapers litigate at length every minor infraction by the BBC, rival newspapers, or what some random columnist has posted. But all of them just carry on not even commenting about this media owner. He’s not hiding, he’s telling you!

Again, I really do have concerns about exactly how Justin Webb is acquiring his knowledge of US politics or what prompted him to make this exact point.
Justin Webb just referred on Today to "platforms like Bluesky, where you can see the celebration of the killing" of Charlie Kirk.

What I'm seeing on here is overwhelming condemnation; despair at the violence of US politics; alarm at where this might go; & calls for equal horror at other shootings.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is horrific, it's likely to lead to a very dark spiral that will worsen political violence, and it is also a byproduct of a profoundly broken society awash in 400 million guns.

Suspect lots of people here don't realise how big a deal Kirk was on TikTok in the UK. Twins have seen loads of videos about him (mostly him being "owned" by progressive students). Lots of chat about it already on their WhatsApps. Much more so than anything in UK politics.

Funniest possible person to say nothing bad happened when he was a kid as a result of everyone having guns
RFK Jr: We had lots of guns when we were kids. Kids brought guns to school and were encouraged to do so. And nobody was walking into schools and shooting people. There are many things that could explain this. One is the dependence on psychiatric drugs.

As its conference kicks off, the increasing diversity of the party’s membership will become more apparent.

This is from the, "how come we don't ever talk about immigration?" school of British political analysis.
“The group nobody seems to care about” Apart from dominating political discourse since Brexit? That group?

They missed the bit where Brexit campaigners talked about reconnecting with the world especially the Commonwealth, and not just 'Little Europe'.

It seems some Brexit voters now realise this means more brown-skinned people as opposed to 'people like us'.

Call it their 'breaking point'.
Many Brexit voters thought Brexit was going to end immigration from Asia and Africa…

Reminder that small boat migration is c.5% of all UK immigration.

And asylum-seeking generally is far lower per head of UK population than most other west European countries e.g. 🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 🇪🇸 🇧🇪 🇳🇱 🇦🇹 🇮🇪. Yes even Ireland takes way more.

Yet none have the same sense of crisis and moral panic as the UK.

"No deal until there's a deal" is one line Trump said which now looks more important (I can't type every word live!)

It seems certain no unconditional ceasefire has been agreed, which was Trump's demand.
So it's TACO o'clock again.

Putin gets more time to kill, no sanctions.
