2026: the year it happens
January 1, 2026 at 5:01 AM
I guess it should have been obvious to me, or at least required very little simple math, but I was in denial that I'm exactly the same age as the original Stranger Things kids until they explicitly said it.

The characters, I mean. The actors are obviously much older than me.

I frequently think about this ad for kimchi. No particular brand, just kimchi as a concept.

Sometimes when I'm bullying an AI bot that won't stop popping up on a website, I worry that there's a gig worker somewhere pretending to be an AI bot who gets 8 cents a response.

My favorite thing about this is how many people in the replies are going “why did I cry at the end of Irish SpongeBob? Why did that happen to me?”

We've reached the point in the revolution where the 90's jazz/novelty act Squirrel Nut Zippers are doing Epstein file redaction jokes during their Christmas themed show in rich white Arizona suburbs to moderate applause and laughs/no boos.

File this next to Weird Al covering RATM.

Explaining Mr. Rogers to kids who didn't grow up with him is a trip because he sounds like a political juggernaut.

When public pools were segregated, he put his feet in a kiddy pool with Officer Clemmens, a Black man.

He saved PBS by addressing senate.

He made his show accessible for blind kids.

The great thing about this is the concept of GROVER being the skeptical one about Santa.
The genuine kid interactions are an element that modern SESAME STREET has abandoned, which is a shame, because as a kid, this made the characters even more real. Look at the way they all make eye contact, or drape an arm around the Muppets. A true connection...

Just watched a bunch of Criterion Closet videos and damn, is that Ethan & Maya Hawke one charming. Normally just a lot of name dropping or pretentious lectures on whatever lost the best documentary Oscar in 1973.

But the Hawke family just straight up loots the place. They grab like 20 Blu-Rays.
