I grew up in the kind of impoverished rural county where the US military recruits their cannon fodder, and I gotta say there's no reason to have any sympathy for anyone who enlists, nor has there ever been. Poor people still have agency and moral culpability. We aren't just lumpen NPCs.

Forget even prosecuted. The party will NOT defund ICE. And most of their voters will be fine with this if they return to power. I don't think this is defeatist in the least. To me, it's reality. You would expect to see something different right now if they were going to act differently in power.
We shouldn’t be doomer defeatists about these things, but we also shouldn’t go in ignorant. These ICE thugs tearing families apart are more likely to remain in their jobs than be prosecuted based on everything we know about the Democratic Party.

This is the cover art I did for NOVA, a manga zine from the 1980's. I was a huge fan of Patalliro, and had the albums, laser disc film, and most of the manga. I don't keep up with it anymore, but I really loved the unique art style.

The wealthy gutting Medicaid and Social Security (which represent a vast majority of funding for disability services) to justify further tax breaks to themselves is a far greater existential threat to all of us than a hypothetical fraction of people potentially defrauding those systems to scrape by.
