So what are faculty going to do about it?
Texas A&M University will not reinstate a lecturer who was fired after a video of her teaching about gender identity in a children’s literature class went viral, despite a faculty appeals panel unanimously concluding that her dismissal was not justified.
Texas A&M won’t reinstate fired lecturer despite findings
A vice chancellor upheld the firing of Melissa McCoul, seen in a viral video being confronted by a student on her gender identity teachings, saying the termination was done with “good cause.”

As someone aptly pointed-out on another platform: the Epstein files aren't filled with trans people. They're filled with wealthy, straight, white, cisgender men.

Jack Smith is calling for the House Judiciary Committee to release the recording of his full closed-door deposition before the panel.

"Doing so will ensure that the American people can hear the facts directly from Mr. Smith, rather than through second-hand accounts."

You know who’s not in the Epstein files?

Undocumented immigrants.
Trans people.
Drag queens.
People who write books & create art with LGBTQ+ content.

It’s rich, powerful and mostly white men.

They want you to blame the “others” so you won’t blame them.

They want a national abortion ban. It’s why they went after Roe.

Banning it for veterans is just another step in removing our autonomy and controlling our bodies.

Reproductive freedoms are worth fighting for and veterans deserve better.

Exactly this: the administration’s concentration camps should be a howling, daily outrage, a scandal of historic proportions.
Bari’s complaint was “there’s nothing new here” and while that’s untrue it’s also irrelevant

“we intentionally sent people to be tortured in a hellhole and bragged about it and The Hague is too good for everyone involved” is a story that simply cannot be told enough

This implies they ever intended to do anything. Which they didn’t.
Republicans couldn’t make a deadline they knew about all year.

Now families and workers are left with the life and death consequences.

4 Republicans voting against is significant. There's leverage there. Somewhere. There's concern that this isn't a winning move in swing districts. Echoes of the Virginia election.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

Proud that when I called the office of my rep @repdwightevans.bsky.social the response was that “of course” he would be voting against the upcoming anti-trans healthcare bills. Please call your rep’s office. It’s easy - took only a couple of minutes, if that, to get that response.

AOC: I want to remind you where the real crime is. It's in the oligarchs taking $170 billion of our money from health care and food assistance and public programs and taking that and funneling it into a secret police program.

For the second year in a row, the wealth gains for the 100 richest Americans exceeded what ALL American households spent on groceries combined.

~$995B for billionaires vs ~$775B in total grocery spending.

We have an oligarchy and inequality problem masquerading as an affordability crisis.

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.

I have so much to say about that story that I don't have words. Parents who are so bad at being parents that their kids cut them off are not the victims.
since everyone's sharing/discussing that WSJ "pissed-off parent pushback" story today, thought I'd re-up this related essay on the Anti-Trans Parent Movement – these online groups actively radicalize parents against their trans kids (no-paywall): juliaserano.medium.com/understandin...

A good reminder that despite her conflict with Trump she’s still a monster.
1. In exchange for her NDAA vote, MTG has announced that her national felony trans youth care ban will go to the floor December 17th.

It is not expected to pass into law due to the U.S. Senate.

Still, it will be a terrible historic moment for anti-trans bills.

It’s been my understanding the red turn of Miami is related to scare-mongering around supposed “socialism” of the Democratic Party - fear of falling into socialist dictatorship. What the Republican leadership may have misjudged is that the core concern is dictatorship/ authoritarianism.
