What’s so pernicious about this is that science works by testing a hypothesis (call it H1) vs the null hypothesis (H0). The burden of proof is on those asserting H1 as correct. This gets our standards of proof completely backwards. This is an attack on the very foundation of scientific epistemology.
CDC has overhauled its website to assert that “the claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim”

Influenza remains an important cause of illness and death. In a phase 3 trial, a nucleoside-modified mRNA (modRNA) quadrivalent vaccine was found to be superior to a standard quadrivalent vaccine in preventing influenza illness. Full trial results: nej.md/43udoTG

The incredible power of a kidney transplant. Still can’t believe this when I look at it. Not even 3 weeks out and I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt this good. #nephsky

Someday I will not have to write about Sarepta Therapeutics and their ineffective drugs that never should have been approved by the FDA in the first place.

This is not that day.

Re $SRPT, huge doses are used, for Elevidys approx 10exp16 genomes for 70kg+, 100x > # of cells in the human body, or an MOI of 100 for every cell the patient has, ie trying to force AAV to do something it's not really capable of: Is it really surprising if tox issues may result?

the people driving science into freefall aren’t just malign, but also incurious and dull

fed lies & luxury, they never wrestled with nature or saw the beauty of its hidden truths — much less discovered any

they lack the ability or desire to invent, to cure, to solve big problems facing humanity

My patients live at the margins of society. They don’t have much. Just getting to dialysis three times a week is a big ask. Taking from them to fund tax breaks for the rich is just cruel.

I want to be outraged but I just feel like crying.

I made a survey over at Mastodon and found that Fusilli are mostly right-handed spirals, but about a third of the brands is left-handed.

So far there seems to be no racemic Fusilli brand. Pasta producerst have achieved a degree of enantiomeric purity chemists can only dream of.

What about pasta salad? Are Fusilli enantiomerically pure? And if so, are there brands which sell D-Fusilli and others that sell L-Fusilli? Has anyone ever researched that?

don’t worry everyone, #chemsky can be perfect so long as we all get along. first things first, we simply need to agree whether sandwiches can be "a bit chiral".
