Last year when I wrote about prison staff jumping ship for ICE, I reported that BOP had lost a net of at least 1400 employees by late fall.
I just got new data showing they lost a net of ~1700 by mid-December -- though w/EOY retirements the final 2025 figures will likely be higher.

For a literal decade the official CBP policy has been “don’t stand in front of or behind vehicles” because the decade before that their internally commissioned studies found that agents were putting themselves in front of vehicles so as to shoot the occupants

Or CBP. Much of the enforcement we are seeing in the interior is a result of increased presence of CBP and former Border Patrol agents who have terrorized border communities for decades. We have long accepted abusive policies implemented at the border thinking it will protect people in the interior.

Ending the Avelo contract with DHS also a big win. And a place where, as with many fights against logistical networks, local action against a national or international problem can be surprisingly effective. New Haven is its biggest airport! And they got the mayor against the airline.

Indeed. Border communities & people arriving at the border have long been plagued by CBP abuses that people in the interior are only now having to contend with. Decades of beefing up their ranks & justifying rights stripping policies at the border has enabled the abuses we see in the interior today.
