I've been overseas for a few weeks. The local news is 50% "what stupid sh*t did Trump do today?" I want to go back to normal when the rest of the world can concentrate on their own news.

this is your daily reminder that AIs have been programmed to tell you what you want to hear, and how wonderful you are for asking.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the integration of Elon Musk's xAI platform, Grok, into military networks as part of a new "AI acceleration strategy" during a visit to SpaceX.

As if you needed another reason to minimize/quit using Facebook and Whatsapp... well, here it is.
Trump: “Congratulations to DINA POWELL MCCORMICK, WHO HAS JUST BEEN NAMED THE NEW PRESIDENT OF META. A great choice by Mark Z!!! She is a fantastic, and very talented, person, who served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction! President DJT”

I keep repeating it because its insane to me but the idea of invading or acquiring Greenland for missile defense is insane because we already have access to it for our missile defense

ABC: Quack Memhet Oz says alcohol is a “social lubricant” as justification for removing specific guidelines for alcohol consumption, and does not differentiate between men and women, despite clear medical evidence that women metabolize alcohol differently. A sharp departure from science z

The Norwegian Nobel Prize committee has been forced to make a statement, declaring that the prize cannot be transferred.
It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become

He’s gonna have rooms for his whole family and staff.
Wonder how large he will have to expand his bunker underneath? The residence and ballroom? Sounds familiar ? Yep cause it is. Remember no coincidences.

Trump wants a legacy. He wants his name on things. He wants to be remembered as the first president to expand America in XX years. Stop trying to justify anything he does without putting it in that context.
Not everyone believed me when I wrote that Trump wants Greenland becuase it would make him feel important, but that's what he told the NYT:

When asked why he needed to possess the territory, he said: “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success"

This can’t be true because Trump said tariffs were going to pay for everything and we were all going to get $2,000 checks with the money left over.

What makes the regime-change operation in Venezuela morally worse than a typical regime change is that Trump doesn’t even plan to give the Venezuelan people a chance for a new leader or democracy.

He just kidnapped Maduro to seize their oil while leaving the regime in place

This is what I wish more people would point out about "Make America Great, Again.' He means great for himself, his family and those he considers his peers - the wealthy 'winners' at life. Everyone else is just a 'sucker or loser' to be exploited.
When Trump says it won’t end up costing the United States to illegally invade and “control” Venezuela because of the value of their oil, he means there will be a massive public cost, but that’s ok because private companies and oligarchs, including his family, will make a ton of money.
People wondering whether the US is going to be able to "run the country" of Venezuela at "no cost" might like to remind themselves it's a place one-third *larger* than Afghanistan, the running of which cost the US $2,260,000,000,000. (That's $2.26 trillion).

The most annoying thing about Marjorie Taylor Greene being frequently correct these days is the implication that she's been privately working with logic all along but clearly tossed it aside in favor of her cynical climb up the ladder of a hate movement.

Anyway, yes, glad she's speaking out.

If Nicolás Maduro stands trial in the United States and gets convicted of 34 felonies, does that mean he’s qualified to be our next president now?

Just checking what the standards are these days.

What the fuck. Trump is claiming the U.S. military captured a sitting head of state in his own country, with no extradition process & no legal authority.

No matter what you think of Maduro, that’s absolutely insane behavior—and a precedent that should alarm anyone who cares about international law.

The darkest, yet plausible, take on my timeline today:

«What happens next is predictable. The US will land in Greenland, then the US will declare a state of defense, martial law will be imposed, and the elections will be suspended.» (google translate for speed)
Was als nächstes kommt, ist absehbar. Die USA landen in Grönland, dann wird in den USA der Verteidigungsfall ausgerufen und Kriegsrecht eingesetzt und die Wahlen ausgesetzt.
