@elsandifer.bsky.social pointed out in her book that one of these guys wrote a whole Harry Potter fanfic about how much he hated being smarter than his teachers, and how you can tell that’s shaped his whole fear of “artificial intelligence”, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it
It genuinely feels like they corrected a teacher on some counterintuitive point at some point in their lives and have been chasing the high of being the only right one in a crowd ever since.

it’s crazy seeing sites i thought would never die in freefall
twitter is the most obvious, but even reddit, a site that is the backbone of every niche hobby, is also going away
