As the future ripens in the past,
so the past rots in the future—
a terrible festival of dead leaves.

I hope the women win their lawsuit & have all their medical expenses covered for the rest of their lives.

But tonight my heart is heavy for all we’ve lost.

The years I lost. The lives forever changed due to medical neglect. The lives lost to medical misogyny.

We must do better

You do not need your uterus to live.

We would never force a man to keep a diseased organ in his body because of what a hypothetical future wife might want.

The culture must change. We need full autonomy and equality, and we need it now.

I spent years of my life fighting for a medically necessary hysterectomy.

I was denied because I might “meet a man who wants kids some day”.

I was put on strong hormones that I didn’t want.

One of those was Depo Provera, which we now know is linked to brain tumours 🧵

A really weird subplot to the Bari Weiss thing is the degree to which she was able to secure these sort of opportunities for herself even in cases like hosting the view where it makes no sense

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

same for translations! editors are so important

This is extremely accurate, and it's why I wish editors got a credit on books. Sometimes you learn who edited a bunch of your favorite books and you're like ah. I see. It's a job that requires a keen literary eye AND people skills, which is a tough mix!

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

The talking point “whatever you think of AI it’s here to stay” is a political position and a radical one, not a statement of fact.
britthates.bsky.social
Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

If my Republican colleagues fail to work with us, 267,000 veterans will lose their health care, according to a new report from the Urban Institute.

These are Americans who put their lives on the line for our nation, who will be priced out of health care if Congress doesn’t act.
