People are DEMANDING that you oppose Trump's Gestapo and protect people from being shot in the face by their government.
Schumer as a major American metro is being brutally occupied by Trump goons: "The affordability crisis will be our focus throughout 2026 because that's what the American people are demanding"

I am just a pollster, standing in front of a bunch of elected Dems, asking them to lead on public opinion rather than hedge and tiptoe and moderate for fear an imaginary future backlash that will probably be manufactured by the right wing ecosystem anyway, regardless of what Dems do or don’t say.

He’s talking about “reform” literally at the moment community members are gathering in N Minneapolis where ICE has just shot another person (or two). He says ICE brutalizes communities but can’t bring himself to say we should get rid of it. Run all these calculating cowards out of office.
Hakeem Jeffries: "Clearly, significant reform needs to take place as it relates to the manner in which ICE is conducting itself. ICE is using taxpayer dollars to brutalize American citizens and to unnecessarily and viciously target law-abiding immigrant families and communities."

Every over-the-top statement from Miller, Homan, etc. should be heard as "this was supposed to be easy, I imagined everyone cowing in fear, it's very frustrating that they're not."
Minnesota protestors aren't just helping their community, they're bogging down the regime, protecting other cities too.
Yes, I think statements from Miller and Homan are frustration that they've been dragged into a massive mess that's slowed the entire process way down and bogged down far too many resources.

But the Trump rule of never backing down prevents them from changing course.
The intended timeline was absolutely to have already pacified Minnesota and moved on to Chicago and Detroit.

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

If you won't bring severe consequences for these relentless crimes against humanity, if you won't even consider it, if you won't even try then what is the point of you? Not just as a politician; as a human being.
I want these fuckers prosecuted. I will not vote for a candidate who shies away from this.
A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present.

He was bundled into the van & taken away.

Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?”

I don’t know how America comes back from all this.

To any ICE agents reading this who are from down south—you have never experienced anything like this cold. Our European climate equivalent is literally Stalingrad. It will hurt to breathe. You will be outside in it. So will we, but we are used to it.

Next week is what will break you.
We've lead charmed weather lives so far in January.
Temperatures are +5F to +10F across MN so far this month. 🌡️
We're about to be reminded what persistent cold and occasional snow feels like. ❄️
MSP could bottom out -10 to -20 next Tue.

What ICE/BP is doing to Minneapolis is awful.

And it's taking everything they have. By population, Minneapolis is America's 45th largest city.

Keep both in mind at once: the regime's desire for authoritarian domination is bottomless, and they'll act on it, but their capacity to do so is limited.

That Stewart quote is, for me the most disappointing. True pundit brain bs. “The thing you were warning about has come to pass and if you had just remained silent we would have done something” is like what a person with a profound personality disorder says
the road to this was paved with columnists scoffing at us

They won't have the numbers to occupy the nation and force everyone to comply, and that's why they're engaged in such an aggressive show of force. They're hoping we all get cowed into submission and do their work of suppression ourselves.

Once again, no.

The mantra remains "fuck you, make me."

It’s like getting married and 20 years later, your spouse gets terminal cancer and you think, “I didn’t get married to take care of a cancer patient,” and just keep living as before: planning vacations, signing the two of you up for gym memberships, and declaring that your spouse will soon recover.
For several years now I have been saying that Democratic voters have not directed their anger at D leaders because most voters, even engaged activists, really thought D leaders were fighting as hard as they could.

And I said if and when D voters found out they’d be ANGRY.
That’s what we see now.

American conservative discourse on "socialism" since the 1950s has largely been shaped by well-educated, self-interested rich people desperately worried that socialism *will* work; who use hyperbolic, bad faith arguments to get less well-educated poor people to believe that socialism *can't* work.

This needs to happen, and the only way it happens is if we're prepared to treat as null and void the inevitable blanket pardons. A coherent account of how and why they're invalid, and the political will to do what it takes to make that stick.
