This morning getting coffee in Zarautz, País Vasco, Spain, an older man was reading a local paper w/headline: “Trump fires generals and eliminates diversity from military.” Not “diversity initiatives,” diversity itself. He is purging women & minorities from senior levels of government.
The Trump regime's segregationist agenda is clear.
I argue that having a Black man as president of white America enraged a portion of this country so much, that they decided to destroy any pipeline to Black advancement in academia, government, & workplaces.

I've been thinking about why we haven't seen a 2017-like national revulsion from the collective left to Trump. One spiritual factor is that Democrats have lost moral high ground not just on Gaza but also on immigration, homelessness, and a refusal to make full-throated defenses of trans people.
