In this house, we love both TV Tropes and the Aarne-Thompson Motif Index.
TV tropes is an incredible triumph. It catalogued and organized the massive writers' toolbox and now everyone gets mad when the tools get used.
tv tropes taught a whole generation of readers to mistake basic pattern recognition for gotcha criticism and a whole generation of writers to feel insecure every time they came up with an idea that happened to be in conversation with other ideas

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003.
