Isn't it funny how your brain just knows when you've left one gulp of tea in a cup, somewhere in the house. Like, somehow you just know you're one gulp short of having drunk a whole cup. Is this a uniquely British skill, I wonder?

£240,000 per job to temporarily safeguard 500 jobs at a firm run by the UK's 7th richest person, an ardent Brexiter worth £17 billion.

Is it really worth it when firms that don't get a penny in government support collapse with greater job losses every few weeks?

#NotAHeron Humankind understand so so little about what goes on inside the heads of the other Beings upon Planet Earth.
Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

The UK privatised all their Fossil Fuel, Power Plants and Electricity transmission.

Norway still owns all of theirs.

The price in the UK for 1 Kwh is 26.5p.

Norway reduce their cost to 3p on Oct 1st.

9x cheaper, the ripoff is insane.

This is so overwhelmingly the wrong message it's untrue.

1) Says to people with genuine concerns that the way to express them is like this
2) Legitimises a minority of thugs led by a convicted hooligan
3) Implies the country is more broken than it is

Not that kind of free speech, exhibit 578964.
Follow the 'free speech' logic

- liberal criticism of conservatives is reponsible for violence against them

- but it's an unacceptable limit on free speech for the UK to criminalise people who directly call for burning asylum-seekers to death
Here we go. Trump just made it unmistakably clear that it will now be absolutely open season on whoever they decide to label "the left," and that this will be pursued with the full force of the government. This could get very, very bad.

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

Now 26 hours since we had a water supply here in Linslade, with optimistic successive 6-hour deadlines for fixing it raising our hopes. Though last time they eventually stopped doing that and admitted it'd be several days before we had water again. Currently waiting for a lampost to be moved. Sigh
Anglian Water’s profits have soared by 15% to £0.5bn in the year to March 2025. The for-profit water monopoly for the East of England hiked prices by 19% as its debt swelled to £7.7bn. Anglian Water also revealed an increase in pollution incidents over the year. This is what I said to local media.
