I am extremely confused as to why the UK government and police are saying Grok’s mass-scale CSAM generation is an issue for Ofcom.

This isn’t about X failing to moderate CSAM, which is an Online Safety Act issue. It is about the company and its technology being actively involved in its generation.

Leaving aside the particular politics of LOTR I hate this idea that if you don’t share the politics of a work of fiction it’s somehow forbidden to be inspired by it, “media literacy” does not mean “I have solved this book, you can’t have it”

So he hasn't been reflecting on it already? This is the most online politician and he's only hearing about it now?
Tánaiste Simon Harris this evening asked if he'd delete his X account in light of the creation and sharing of non-consensual sexualised images of children and women on Grok, says he'll have to reflect on it.

Another example of the fact that there are very few technically difficult questions of economics; "difficult questions" are just difficult because you don't like the obvious answer
I'm afraid there *is* an obvious answer: it can't.

The public: "How did Epstein get away with it for so long?!"
World leaders:
Keir Starmer's spokesman asked if Government will still use X now it posts indecent images of children, replies "we always keep communication channels under review to reach public in most appropriate way possible”

"Operators are under obligation to act appropriately. We always hope they would do"

If you follow this argument through to its logical conclusion there should be a UK Government channel on pornhub.
Cabinet Office Minister Baroness Anderson tells the Lords the Government will keep on using X.

"I still believe that X is an appropriate platform to use because I believe in freedom of speech..."

"It is incredibly important that there is a counter narrative on those platforms," she says.

Not commenting on Venezuela is one thing, but Starmer's ministers not even being willing to say "no of course the US shouldn't invade a peaceful sovereign democratic NATO country, which is one of our closest allies" is quite another.

So glad to see this written about. It takes 4 - 6 (or more!) human labor hours of editing, mixing and mastering to make a 90 minute conversation flow nicely and artfully. Video-forward shows tend to excise this process entirely and the resultant conversations flow and sound like shit as a result.

The point about litigation for these terrible people isn't necessarily to win, although they obv do want that too. It's that their backers have almost limitless cash with which fuck over & drag through the courts those speaking out for trans rights disciplining activists & quashing free speech
Total gaslighting. Anti-trans activist; chooses to speak in person, provoking students who want to protect trans rights; they exercise their freedom of speech to tell her she isn't wanted; she gets to speak anyway; the BBC dutifully platforms her again; and now she threatens to sue everyone.
