Not to go down this week's particular rabbit hole very deeply, but as a guy who was *in fact hiring Hollywood writers* between 2011 and 2018, four staffs in total, it seems a lot of smart commenters are missing I did not diversify my rooms to be woke, I diversified my rooms to have better rooms.

Day 1 at my dad's for Christmas and I have: fixed the connection b/w smartwatch and phone so he can track his sleep data again, reset the sky receiver to so he can record things again, promised to create a YouTube account and have helped set up the new coffee machine. I've been here three hours

Internet of Things was never a good idea. Most of these things have no business being Internet linked! There is NO REASON to have control of YOUR BED handled thru some distant server farm. This has always been crazy and it drives me bonkers that ppl keep buying shit like this??
The AWS outage bricked people's $2,700 smartbeds, leaving them in a reclining position or with the heat up. People were unable to use them, basically. A GitHub repo exists that lets people operate their beds without reliance on the normal infrastructure
