As well as putting on shows, in 1876 swam from Battersea to Greenwich in 2hrs 43 mins. Not just an entertainer, she promoted the health benefits of swimming and trained other girls, paving the way for women’s competitive swimming. Married 1882, living at 130 Kennington Road. Lived to the age of 90.
