These proposals from Infrastructure Victoria to extend tram lines make a lot of sense. They'd make Melbourne's trams more useful for more people by better connecting to railway stations and other suburban destinations.
How about it, Vic govt?

In the fight that generates infinite content, I'm in the AFR Magazine this weekend talking about generational housing conflict.

Truly unhinged comments from anti-housing activists – and as a bonus you can see me focusing so hard on Standing Normally.

Top priorities should be short distance fares and automatic weekly caps, to help encourage more people onto public transport.

The false dichotomy between university and apprenticeships
Against apprenticeships
Australian political discussion regularly returns to the idea that the solution to our education and labour-market problems lies in “more apprenticeships”.

Lots of great photos from the munnel. One thing I’m quite pleased about is that they did the sensible Asian thing: number the exits and use bright yellow signs to show where they are.

#Melbourne Metro Tunnel first day! Huge numbers of people despite the weather. Some delays but looking great - just a shame they only ran trains every 20 minutes - some long waits and very crowded trains. But great to see this opened. Bring on the full timetable!

We warned you that self-driving cars would just create self-driving traffic jams, and here they are.

The car industry has no solution to the shortage of space in cities. Public transit, cycling, and walking are all part of the answer, but cars are not.

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.
