Renée Good is one of at least nine people across the country who have been shot by immigration agents since September. There is something every case has in common:

Everyone was in a vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Cops are taught not to shoot into cars. ICE keeps doing it anyway.

This is exactly right.

They haven't settled for dim brutes who blindly follow orders regardless of the law. That's what they want. That's what they got. There's no reforming or improving it now.

Democrats need to investigate, defund, and ultimately disband the president's brownshirt brigade.
People might argue that ICE is not recruiting quality agents.

But I would insist that they are in fact successfully recruiting the exact sort of person needed to carry out the mission: reactionary, angry, violent people who don’t believe in democracy.

I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

Being able to do cruel, illegal, authoritarian things when they want is important to Trump and Co. As @gregsargent.bsky.social explains here, they double down to show they can.
The upside: this can bog the regime down, leading it to spend limited resources in strategically poor ways that weaken him.
Recall that Trump/Miller have refused to deport Abrego Garcia to Costa Rica even though he's signaled acceptance of that. They must deport him to the country of *their* choice because otherwise it won't look dehumanizing and cruel enough. This is abominable conduct.

Of course it would. Capitalized medicine is just dressed up extortion. “Pay this absurd amount of money or we’ll let you die.”

Nothing billionaires do is nonprofit, no matter what they say. Even their donations ultimately work in their financial favor. That’s how they stay billionaires.
