Terrible loss. Though career/life-cappers don't come any better than THE TURIN HORSE, a death-haunted film that's also a great distillation of his style.

BBC journalists have been banned from describing the kidnapped Venezuelan leader as having been kidnapped.

The BBC News Editor has sent this to BBC journalists.

Trump is weak at home, and he can be stopped – so long as the domestic political logic of foreign intervention is recognized and turned against him. This act of war is about regime change in the United States. It only succeeds if Americans allow it to do so.

Rose Byrne, IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU (39 points)
Renate Reinsve, SENTIMENTAL VALUE (37 points)

The NYFed quietly injected billions into unnamed banks — then removed limits on emergency cash. No transparency. Are we seeing the early warning signs of another Wall Street bailout?

The one arthouse theater in my hometown of San Antonio closed during the pandemic.

My mom texted that she wants to go see something Oscar-y and the only option in the 7th biggest city in the country is MARTY SUPREME (which might be too much -- she's a TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE type.)

Such a bummer!

Sentimental Value is a great film by the director of another movie I liked a lot, The Worst Person in the World. Made me cry, despite being a rough & tumble kinda guy who is not in touch with his emotions and sullenly chops wood every morning to maintain some distant contact with society at large.
