I just finished 'Wearing the Lion' by @wiswell.bsky.social last night. Let me give you two observations.

1 I seldom had this much fun with the Greek myths.

2 This book is so full of love! It makes you want to go and hug your children.

Highly recommended!

Pop up bookmobile with mainly fantasy leaning on cozier side. with sofas inside to read. Looks like a meadow or the inside of a castle in the bookmobile. Kids books for $3 but often just given away so more kids can have fun and read
If you could own your own bookstore, what would it be like?

If you are reading for awards, I would be touched if you would consider my novelette, "Phantom View." It's one of my most personal stories, about disabled people helping each other, whether they're alive or dead.
Phantom View - Reactor

Wearing the Lion was the highlight of my summer book bingo last year, and Someone to Build a Nest In was one of most unique love (in many senses of the word) stories I’ve read. Please support a great author while he’s recovering!
Since people are asking if they can do something for me, here is a short thread. I'm clearly going to be laid up for a lot longer.

Here are a few simple links.

Not ALL romantasy love interests are shadow daddies or brooding anti-heroes...

As Ruby Martinez (An Embroidery of Souls) points out, some of the best are just classic sweethearts:

We're still looking for someone in the Inland Empire area to adopt or foster this little tortoiseshell kitty. I'm willing to drive halfway to L.A. if anyone there wants to meet up to take her.
A neighbor was taken to a care facility, and her little tortoiseshell kitty was left behind. I can't take her in but I've been feeding her and giving her water every day. No one in the neighbor's family can take her in. Is there anyone in the Inland Empire area that could foster or adopt her?

a lot of authors talk about wanting to write the representation that they didnt have in the fiction they read when they were a kid. and thats good. unfortunately, what i want is for everyone to experience the alienation i felt reading books as a kid.

woe. estrangement be upon ye.

I'm very slow with turning sketches to something actually good—especially people. But I do have some stuff I'm proud of.

I usually start with a hand drawn images, scan and then digitally paint. I have literally spent months before just trying to get a face right.

It is normal to feel scared in times like this, but if you are able to do so, get into community with people.

Other people help you keep in touch with hope, help you understand that you can and will make a difference.

Utena. That moment when Anthy takes off her glasses and leaves the school is chef's kiss.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

Prefiguration. We have to imagine a better world before we can live in it.

Fascism relies on the foreclosure of the imagination, and the myth that it is invincible and inevitable.
Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.
