I tempted the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing, and now look what’s happened
I feel bad enough about things, so I'm not going to read the ineptly redacted Epstein files nor watch the 60 Minutes CECOT segment now uploaded errrrywhere, but thinking about how incompetent the cover-ups are makes me feel like the Grinch when he realized Christmas doesn't come from a store.

Alt: The Grinch, hanging off the side of a mountain, listening to the Whos down in Whoville, whose houses he just burglarized, singing their Who hearts out in Christmas joy. The grinch is smiling and his face radiates happiness. His heart also blowing up.

Bobby Jr. could be a little saggier, but otherwise this is perfection. Needs a couple of repeat viewings to catch all the details.

Beautiful story with lots of new reporting on Michele Reiner, a woman in her own right in addition to half of a Hollywood power couple www.cnn.com/2025/12/19/e...

This is a really funny story about an AI vending machine. And does not seem to be paywalled.

Terrific story about Rob Reiner being as much of a mensch in real life as he seemed.
I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

As a director, Rob Reiner released these five movies all in a row

1986 Stand by Me
1987 The Princess Bride
1989 When Harry Met Sally…
1990 Misery
1992 A Few Good Men

All remarkable and vastly different films, showing extraordinary range and talent

15-year-old me, a moron, went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show with two of my moron friends. Before the movie, we made loud spectacles of ourselves in the parking lot drinking beer and breaking bottles. The police were called, our parents were called, and to this day, I have not seen that movie.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

This feels like a good time to take a social media break. I plan to spend the next few weeks catching up on my reading list, watching holiday movies, following neighborhood cats to see where they live, cleaning my house, and napping. Please do not email me for proof of life. I'm probably fine.

There's also a similarity between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old. A 5-year-old is a child. And a 15-year-old is a child.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."
