I'm so sick of hearing these whines about higher costs for employers. What they're really moaning about is people - particularly in the public sector - getting long overdue pay rises. As anyone should know, if poorer people have more money they spend it and it's good for the economy. #r4today

Thank god for Jeremy Bowen. And shame on the rest of you.
It's not a Peace Deal. It's a cease fire only. The rest is hype, arrogance, overclaim and a craven lack of honesty.

What does she think the pro-palestine protests are about?
NEW: Home secretary Shabana Mahmood urges pro-Palestine protesters to consider not taking part in marches this weekend.

"Imagine if you lost a loved one to a terror attack in this country ... sometimes a little unity, a little solidarity, some love to other people is required"

I swear there was less UK media coverage in the assassination of actual sitting MP Jo Cox than there has been in the murder of a RW American podcaster.

It’s truly ridiculous.

#BBCWATO So Johnnie Diamond, you think that people lose confidence in leaders if they sack two colleagues in Sept, or is it if they take two days instead of one? Do you not think that news outlets' continual hounding of said leaders at head of the News might have an influence?

Sarah Montague, on The World at One, harps on the idea that two high-profile resignations within a few days shows Starmer's bad judgement. Silly to muddle up Angela Rayner – elected deputy leader by the party –  with Mandelson, whose appointment does demonstrate shockingly bad judgement. #bbcwato

What link is there between Rayner and Mandelson, other than "September"? Rayner was an excellent member of government, and the process that led up to her removal was exemplary. It might be a politically unfortunate conjunction, but it hardly contributes to a pattern. #bbcwato

People are exhausted.

Our high streets, public spaces, whole communities left unloved.

Blaming migrants won’t fix this.

Tackling inequality will. Tax the super-rich. Fund public services.

Clearly the UK MSM including the BBC was more concerned with removing Angela Rayner from office than public accountability or probity. This is the only explanation of why they ignore similar transgressions by Nigel Fraud.

Labour, and especially Wes Streeting, need to stop trying to turn the NHS into an exercise in free market economics.

Needing cancer treatment is not like shopping for baked beans or a new car, ffs.

#r4today
Can someone ask Streeting how a patient is supposed to "exercise choice" about where they receive NHS treatment based on his league table?

If we're told we have an appointment for a scan at X hospital, what happens if we say no we want to go to Y hospital?

A 6 month delay, that's what.
