I found a great book on root cellaring (called Root Cellaring) by Bubel at the dump. Highly recommend if it is available at your dump.

Is it bad if a sitting federal judge was (allegedly) part of a conspiracy to commit murder? It seems bad ....
OMFG-ex DOJ official (& now federal judge) Emil Bove was involved in the administration's plots to murder individuals via lethal strikes

"At a DOJ conference ... Bove told drug prosecutors the ... administration wasn't interested in interdicting ... Instead... the U.S. should "just sink the boats."

That's such a good point.

We only hear about the murders they want to tell us about.

We have no idea what else they've done, and they sure as hell don't let us see their inevitable failures.

we noticed that the paperwork was funny and could not puzzle out how it had gotten that fucked up, one of the answers being "the indictment is just outright fraudulent and they were stupid about forging it" does make things tidier
Everyone's missing potentially the most interesting thing about this order, which is the judge's finding that Halligan may have returned an indictment that was never presented to the jury

This delay strategy has been infuriating on numerous fronts for a decade.

But maybe one needs a certain level of skill to implement it? Can Bondi operate the levers like Barr could?

Also, the whole reason the strategy flipped was because house Rs believe it will come out eventually.

Here's hoping

Big update here. In a Truth Social post, he walks back what he said on af1 and says he'll release "what they're entitled to."

LOL.

Well there ya go. Anything mentioning him they're not "entitled to," I'm sure!

I believe this counts as nullification

Not technically within the ken of the jury to second-guess the exercise of prosecutorial discretion

(To be clear this is not a criticism)
The Atlantic speaks with one of the jurors in the case of the man who threw a Subway sandwich at a federal agent.

The juror says that, despite two initial holdouts, it was ultimately pretty easy to acquit: "a clear majority felt it was nonsensical, like, don't waste our time or money."

Pro-industrial policy Dems' argument was that you can use targeted tariffs to allow nascent domestic competition in critical industries to grow. Trump's argument was no, we have to tariff everything and hang tough.
He gave up in 7 months.

I have seen a lot of discussion around Burnt Jacket Mountain today. My understanding is that the land was sold for $8.1 million. Not exactly a sum an average Mainer could afford.

Incredible access to nature is part of the culture and soul of Maine. We need to preserve our lands and tax the rich.

Reproductive rights was one of the Biden Administration’s signature policies. And Roe v Wade had been law for almost 50 years. The Supreme Court “interfered” with it.
Bessent on tariffs: "This is one of President Trump's signature policies, and traditionally the Supreme Court does not interfere with a president's signature policy."

I keep harping on this, but many political commentators can't meaningfully predict right-wing behaviour because they insist on seeing them as "hypocrites" who will eventually collapse under their own cognitive dissonance.🧵
You might be familiar with Umberto Eco's list of common traits of fascism.

Today I want to talk about number 8, "The enemy is both strong and weak," and how it's also one of the core tenets of even the most mainstream right-wing politics 🧵

Trump's policies are inflicting so much harm even his allies can see it. Yet he's mostly doing exactly what he promised to. If they revolt over policy, they'll reveal they were fools to back him in the first place. They need a *moral* reason to abandon him. The Epstein files provide just that.
