U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted “no one has died” as a result of U.S. foreign aid cuts. In Myanmar, the grieving father of a 2-year-old boy who died after their food rations were cut calls such claims a lie.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly said “no one has died" because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

In the 1990s, American Heritage ran a piece from a man who as a child was called over to shake the hand of a Civil War veteran in the 1920s or 30s. The veteran, who had shaken the hand of an American Revolution veteran when *he* was a kid, told him he was two handshakes away from the Revolution.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The state is not a personal slush fund for the monarch, but Trump is absolutely determined to use the tools of the 21st century along with the economics of the 19th to rule like it's the 17th century

I’m old enough to remember when Republicans in Congress sued President Obama, and a federal judge agreed with them, that he could not spend money to fund certain Obamacare programs without a congressional appropriation.

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.

Chicago Headline Club (et al.) just sued DHS for attacking journalists covering ICE protests. Similar to successful LA Press Club case.

DHS arguments so bad they're getting laughed at IN COURT.

Decorum matters in court, but this is fair. Make clown arguments, expect people to treat you as a clown.

Def. atty continues his argument, says "violent terrorist organizations" are trying to doxx agents.

This prompts open laughter in the courtroom.

"Well, I think we have a different idea of what's going on in Chicago," Ellis tells the def. atty, who is appearing remotely.
