Exceptional

❤️✊
We hope the good people of #SanFrancisco will forgive us for adapting a song about their city in 1967 to address the shocking and tragic events in #Minnesota in recent weeks. This is dedicated to Renée Good and Alex Pretti, and in solidarity. Our version is called "Minnesota" ❤️

I just called the FBI hotline for terrorism tips and reported the United States government murdering people in Minneapolis.

Every, single American should do this.

So rare for there to be anything to celebrate when the world's worst people are in charge 👍
Republicans help force a vote on ACA subsidies. Trump’s denial about the economy keeps falling flat. Democrats surge again in a Kentucky special. And amid last weekend's horrors, a hero at Bondi Beach reminds us what decency looks like. A much-needed look at this week's bright spots.
Our Wins Of The Week
In yet another blow to Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership, four Republicans joined Democrats this week to sign Hakeem Jeffries’ discharge petition to bring a 3-year extension of Obamacare premium subsidies to the House floor.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

This is how to stand up to fascist cowards. With absolutely no fear and a fuck load of swearing.

She gets all the flowers. I mean ALL of them. If we see her, we immediately have to give her flowers.

But no, we mustn't call it fascism.
Federal agents aren’t trying to keep the peace. They want violence to escalate so that Trump can declare martial law.

They shot a reverend in the head with pepper balls while he was praying in front of an ICE facility. If that doesn’t tell you where we are as a country, nothing will.

I’ve been frustrated to see so much of the ongoing story about asylum seekers and the protests against them covered without hearing from those seeking asylum and now being met with hostility and hatred

I set out to speak to those directly affected to find out about the impact this is having 👇
We escaped war and torture but now we feel unsafe in Britain
Special report: Amid protests and rising aggression towards asylum seekers across the country, we spoke to those being targeted

People mostly like Orcas because of that film - Free Willy. But, as a marine biologist, let me tell you right now that Orcas are massive cunts.

I seem to have upset the Nigel Farage fan club - so let me be clear.

This man sows hate, lies and division.

He is a grifter and a conman.

He does not represent the vast majority of Britons.

Repost if you agree

P.s. multiculturalism is great.

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.

Show this piece of shit that weirdos and fascists are not welcome here.

Well, maybe not the weirdos bit - we have plenty of them to be fair.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

The year is 2038. Texas has just completed its third nuclear strike against Oklahoma. In Washington, Elon Musk's Legion Of Children is engaged in a last stand in the DOGE basement.

In London, the Conservatives warn that an agreement to sell cheese to France is putting at risk a US trade deal.

We've seen videos like this before, but usually when you see a tearful wife pleading with the kidnappers who have taken her husband, she's not talking to the U.S. president
Abrego Garcia's wife: "I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn't forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home ... they miss their dad so much."

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

Failed state
With Yoon removed from office today, by my count that makes 34 democratic leaders convicted since 2010. Only one—Trump—faced no real consequences. Trump's actions weren't uncommon. What was exceptional was how our institutions failed to hold him accountable.

I often give MSM headline-writers/editors a hard time on framing of political news.

So now a note of compliment to hed-writers + photo and layout editors who put together today's WSJ print front page. (h/t @jorgeguajardo.bsky.social )

If Dickens or Dreiser were writing this, would seem overdone
