The Team at A Better DFL is releasing the following statement on the disastrous listening session from Thursday.

ABetterDFL.org. We need to hold the DFL to a higher standard than "at least we're not republicans."
On Thursday, November 13th, State DFL Chair Richard Carlbom attended a listening session with people from Minneapolis who have worked with the DFL, volunteered their time and effort, and worked hard to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. The vast majority of the people who spoke were upset with the DFL. They cited concerns with being labeled "divisive" for asking for basic accommodations from DFL members, concerns with ongoing bullying, antisemitism, transphobia, and racism from DFL state committee members, and concerns about what the State DFL is doing to restore trust in party systems after breaking our trust. Richard's responses were inadequate. He repeatedly deflected, went on tangents about employing "content creators" and did not apologize or acknowledge harm done. When pressed about a member who is currently on trial for vehicular manslaughter, he appealed to "due process," as though he has no power to ask a person to take a leave of absence while they are literally standing trial. The person in question, by the way, is still serving actively on both the Constitution, Bylaws, and Rules Committee and the Code of Conduct Committee, actively reviewing complaints about other DFL members. That's why we here at A Better DFL are organizing. We're fed up, and we're tired of being told to simmer down and set aside problems while corruption runs rampant at the highest level. The DFL is accountable to us, its members, and we are holding them to a higher standard than just "not being Republicans."

My partner saw a giant black plume drifting over our neighborhood here in Louisville. Five minutes later, a shelter-in-place warning went off on our phones.

A UPS cargo plane crashed. At least 3 people are dead, if not more. The air smells horrible, and big pieces of ash are falling in my yard.

It’s also basically an open secret around City Hall that much of his time is spent calling reporters and editors if he’s unhappy with certain coverage or articles and will yell at them if he feels he’s been wronged.
